GRB 090423 featured as HEASARC Picture of the Week

XMM-Newton detects the afterglow of GRB090423.

The X-ray satellite XMM-Newton detected the afterglow of the gamma-ray burst 090423. At z ≈ 8.2 it is the most distant known object in the Universe. This image is produced by DARK researcher Darach Watson and was featured as Picture of the Week at the High Energy Astrophysics Division of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
