Workshop: Chemical Evolution
DARK Adjunct Professor Enrico Ramirez-Ruiz (Professor, UC Santa Cruz) is leading a workshop on chemical evolution at DARK.
The understanding of the formation and structure of the Milky Way is gaining unprecedented soundness due to the improvement in number and quality of observational data, which allow us to derive the individual chemical composition and kinematic information for large samples of stars belonging to different Galactic components.
This workshop will focus on the comparison between the predictions of theoretical models and the constraints provided by the continuously increasing amount of observational data:
Some of the topics at the forefront of attention are
- Understanding the chemical assembly of the MW
- The formation of r-process elements
- The history of r-process assembly in the MW
- Metal assembly in elliptical galaxies
- Star formation feedback
Talks and discussions are scheduled for the first four days, and the following week(s) will be arranged to promote starting projects and collaboration.
