Long-time collaborator Javier Gorosabel passes away

It is with a heavy heart we share the news of Professor Javier Gorosabel's untimely death. Javier was a postdoctoral fellow at the Danish Space Research Institute in Copenhagen, 2000-2001, when he built up many lasting scientific and personal relationships which have flourished over the years. Since then, he has been a close partner and recurring visitor to the Dark Cosmology Centre (DARK), collaborating on many projects and more than 100 papers, inspiring students, and being a vibrant and generous contributor to the DARK network. He was most recently Research Professor at the Universidad del País-Vasco in Bilbao, Spain.

His research started with the study of gamma-ray bursts, a field that he entered in its very infancy, and which he contributed to shape with many seminal discoveries.

Javier's beneficial influence was not limited to a great scientific production: he was a generous, good-hearted and insightful person, who made everyone around him feel great. Javier always had a kind word and a smile, even in the most hectic moments of scientific research. DARK and the astronomy community will miss his presence and his wisdom.
